Best know for his lead role as Fleischman's replacement on Northern Exposure, Provenza recently played a recurring role on The West Wing and starred on Showtime's Beggars & Choosers, and his own ABC series, The Pursuit of Happiness. He wrote, produced and starred in several comedy specials, The Incredible Man-Boy, Pulp Comics, and Comics Only to name a few. He also co-starred on Empty Nest, Facts of Life, and guest starred on countless other TV shows.

On stage, Provenza played the title role in Steve Martin's critically acclaimed Picasso at the Lapin Agile in NY, SF and on National Tour. He won a Theater World Award and Drama Desk nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Only Kidding!, Off-Broadway and in LA. He played Abbie Hoffman in the Odyssey Theatre's The Chicago Conspiracy Trial.

Provenza also has a following as a standup comedian, with appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. Provenza just completed directing and co-producing a feature documentary, The Aristocrats.
